Michael Campanella, local graduate of Holmdel High School 2019, author of new cookbook; Theater of the kitchen: Cooking with instinct, intuition and disrespect from the perspective of an actor. Campanella, an acting major at NYU, began brainstorming the book in August 2019 after reading cookbook after cookbook and feeling frustrated with her prescriptive, restrictive language and approach. He wrote a book that encourages creativity in the kitchen – focusing on developing instinct, intuition, and disrespect rather than following recipes – and using the lessons of his acting education to do so.
