Jessica Alba says that “nobody believed” that her now multi-billion dollar brand would be successful
When Jessica Alba floated her Honest Company in May, it was valued at a whopping $ 1.4 billion. But as she tells people in a new cover story, there have been many people who doubted the 40-year-old actress could even run a successful business. “I love facts and data. So if a naysayer has a laundry list about why this shouldn’t happen, I like to ask questions, ”she explains. “‘Oh really? Why couldn’t that work?” And then you collect all the data you need to get in and hit them on the head with it. That’s the way you deliver it too. Because if you deliver it with a smile, it’s just facts. “Jessica founded The Honest Company in 2017 with the dream of creating a sustainable product brand that prioritizes wellness while protecting the environment.” I actually had the greatest vision straight away and had to then bring them to earth, “she shares.” I just knew in my heart that this company should exist. If people knew they could take their health and wellbeing into their own hands and make better decisions, why not? “Jessica admits that during the startup phase she” didn’t sleep much and work and obsess over the weekend “”.I know what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck and it’s no fun. So I just had a different mentality or a different drive. I had to pave my own way, ”she says. When asked to share her advice with other budding entrepreneurs, Jessica adds, “Nobody believed I could even do it. If you’re doing something you’ve never done or never done before, what do you really have to lose? “

For Riz Ahmed, acting comes from a physical place – when he set out to play a Pakistani rapper fighting a serious autoimmune disease in “Mogul Mowgli,” he found his character in part because he lost as much weight. “I’ve lost 10 pounds [about 22 pounds] in three weeks, “the 38-year-old actor recently told IndieWire.” I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I had a professional nutritionist working with me, but it was really exhausting and it took me to an emotionally intense place that probably influenced the movie, “he explained.” That was a big part of it, a place of weakness and Being tired and hungry. “Regarding a quote he heard from a fellow actor, Riz added,” Dan Kaluuya said something I liked: ‘When you’re in your head, you’re dead.’ I think that’s true. Acting has to be in your body. Everything that brings you into your body centers you and you can perform in this place. “
